Welcome to BrightChapters (“Platform”, “Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), operated by NPOWS (OPC) Private Limited. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, applications, digital wallet, coin system, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing or using BrightChapters, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Services.
BrightChapters is a digital storytelling and publishing platform that allows users to:
Every registered user is both a Reader and an Author. There is no distinction or discrimination between user roles.
You must be 18 years or older to use the Services independently.
Users under 18 may use the Platform only with verifiable parental or guardian consent, in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).
By using the Platform, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
Users must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep such information updated.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and all activities under your account. The Company shall not be liable for unauthorized access unless caused by its gross negligence.
All stories, chapters, and books published by Users (“Published Works”) remain the intellectual property of the Author.
Users may upload only content they own or are legally authorized to publish.
By publishing content, you grant the Company a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, promote, and technically adapt the content solely for operating and marketing the Platform.
The Company does not claim ownership of User content.
2 Coins = ₹1 INR
Coins are virtual units usable only within the Platform and have no value outside it.
Minimum coin purchase: ₹50 = 100 coins
Coins once purchased are non-refundable.
The first two (2) chapters of a Book are free to read.
From the third chapter onwards, each chapter requires 20 coins (₹10) to unlock, unless stated otherwise.
For all paid unlocks and reader appreciation:
Minimum withdrawal amount: 200 coins = ₹100.
Users may withdraw available balances at any time, subject to verification and fraud checks.
Withdrawals are processed only to verified payment methods.
The Company reserves the right to delay or withhold withdrawals in cases of suspected fraud, abuse, or legal non-compliance.
Where an Author chooses to publish a Book on BrightChapters under the Platform’s book and chapter-unlock model:
This exclusivity applies only to Books published with BrightChapters and does not apply to standalone stories or non-book content.
Authors acknowledge that BrightChapters makes the first two chapters freely accessible, hosts, markets, and monetizes the Book, shares revenue with the Author, and that exclusivity is a reasonable requirement to protect platform investment and reader trust.
The Platform may offer private journaling tools, including voice-based journaling with automated transcription, intended solely for personal creative expression.
Journals are private by default and visible only to the User unless explicitly shared.
Voice recordings may be temporarily processed to generate text transcriptions.
The journaling feature is not therapy, counseling, medical advice, or mental health treatment. The Company does not provide professional, psychological, or medical services.
Journaling data will be handled in accordance with the Platform’s Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
The Company acts as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and will act upon lawful notice as required.
The Company may suspend or terminate accounts for repeated violations, fraudulent or abusive activity, legal or regulatory compliance, or harm to Platform integrity.
Services are provided “as is” and “as available.”
Total liability, if any, shall not exceed ₹5,000 or the total amount withdrawn by the User in the preceding six (6) months, whichever is lower.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company from claims arising from your content, breach of these Terms, or violation of law.
Personal data is processed in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).
