A First-Time Tour of BrightChapters: Home, Stories, Books, Write, and Categories
New to BrightChapters? Here's a quick, no-login-required tour of the five places you'll use most: Home, Stories, Books, Write, and Categories. Five minutes here will save you ten minutes of clicking around later.
Home: this week's spotlight, plus a running feed of stories and books
Home opens on "This Week's Spotlight," a single story pulled out for a longer read right at the top of the page, with its category tag and opening lines so you can tell in a few seconds if it's for you. Below the spotlight, side pills on the left and right surface more stories with the first few sentences of each one, so you're reading a preview instead of guessing from a title. Scroll further and you'll hit "More Stories" and "Books to Explore," rotating grids that pull from across the catalog. The six category pills near the top (Thriller, Relationships, Fantasy, Horror, Non-Fiction, Book Summaries) jump straight into a filtered view if you already know what mood you're in.
Stories: a reader first, a library second
Click Stories and you land directly inside a story, not a list of thumbnails. The reader opens with the cover, title, author and category, a built-in audio player with play, pause, skip, a speed control, and a progress scrubber, so you can listen instead of read if that suits you better, with the full text right below it. Want something else? The slim strip on the left edge expands into a Category Filter panel, the same six genres as Home, so you can narrow the whole library down without leaving the reading view.
Books: BrightChapters Originals, shelved by category
Books is where the longer, full-length work lives: titles like The Working Version, Nothing Is Wrong with You, The Invisible Warrior, and 7 Years Later, each with a cover, a short description, and a "Start Reading" link. A Categories dropdown in the top corner does the same filtering job as Stories, with Book Summaries as its own option for readers who want the condensed version of a book rather than the full original.
Write: where your own story goes live
Write is for anyone who wants to publish, not just read. It's free to publish, your stories can include the same audio narration readers get everywhere else on the site, and you keep ownership of what you post. Since publishing ties a story to an account, Write will ask you to log in or register first; once you're in, it's where drafts become published stories other readers can find through Home, Stories, or a category filter.
Categories: the same six genres, three different ways to use them
Thriller, Relationships, Fantasy, Horror, Non-Fiction, and Book Summaries show up everywhere on purpose: as pills on Home, as an expandable filter on Stories, and as a dropdown on Books. Pick one from any of the three and you'll see the same genre, just filtered through whichever view you're already in, whether that's a quick preview, a full reading view, or a shelf of Originals.
That's the whole map: Home to see what's new, Stories to read or listen right away, Books for the longer Originals, Write to publish your own, and Categories to get to a genre fast from wherever you are. Pick a category above and start reading.
